Mary Carey Dines With Bush at GOP Fundraiser

WASHINGTON – Mary Carey, who came to national attention with a bid for California’s governorship during the state’s 2003 recall election, continued her flirtation with politics by attending a Republican fundraiser Thursday night.

With Jessica Simpson opting out of the event in favor of a charity function, Carey held a lock on ditzy blondes dining with President George W. Bush. The dinner, which came at a price of $2,500 per plate, was held to raise $7.5 million for Republican candidates in the upcoming mid-term election.

Carey, who lost 20 pounds since the last time the Republicans saw her, told Neil Cavuto of Fox News that male Republicans in attendance welcomed her, while some women in the crowd balked at her presence. Still, Carey was prohibited from attending a luncheon last Tuesday.

“[Some] Republicans are afraid of me because they think that they might lose a lot of their voters since I know that a lot of the Republican voters are really strong Christians,” Carey said.

Carey was allowed to attend a lunch the day before the fundraiser with Bush that featured cabinet advisor Karl Rove as the keynote speaker. The two also met last year, according to Carey, when she took the opportunity to advise him [Rove] on “important national issues.”

This is the second time Carey has dined with Bush. Last year’s fundraiser, which Carey attended with Kick Ass Pictures President Mark Kulkis, drew controversy and a “no comment” from the White House.
