SugarDVD CEO Jax said that the ads, which are set to run on the Maxim Channel, are part of a larger, layered media campaign.
“We’re approaching this from all angles,” Jax said. “We’ve done television, radio [satellite and terrestrial], and we’ve done mainstream magazines.”
The DVD movie rental service, which shipped more pieces via the mail than any other company of its kind in 2005, hopes that the ads will increase business in two ways.
“Being on the Maxim, we know that we’ll have a chance to tell our existing customers more about us,” Jax said. “But the mainstream ads also give us a chance to target new customers who maybe don’t know about us. This will give listeners a chance to learn who we are.”
There is no word yet on the precise nature of the ads, which are scheduled to run late next week.
“We’re hoping that the show’s host will be able to work our service into the program,” Jax said. “We’ve also talked about Tera Patrick doing some spots, or possibly Howard Stern.”
Tera Patrick appeared in the company’s television ads. Howard Stern advertised for SugarDVD when he was on terrestrial radio.
SugarDVD plans to continue its Sirius campaign on a monthly basis.
