CHICAGO — Playboy and Bombay Sapphire Gin are sponsoring a short film competition for aspiring filmmakers to have their work shown at the 2012 Sundance Film festival.
The companies said they are looking for a film that “inspires self expression and ignites imagination — an uplifting force that allows us to unlock the beauty and potential hidden in the world around us. When acted upon, the effects of imagination ripple outward, influencing and inspiring other acts of imagination. And when imagination is expressed with the spirit of freedom of expression, it becomes even more powerful.”
Rules also state that a film must illustrate a meaningful reference to the use of “blue,” which can be in a neutral or positive, or a subtle or overt manner and should inspire a tone that is passionate and thoughtful.
One winner will travel to the festival that includes three nights’ accommodation and $500 for expenses.
The winner will also receive a 30-60 minute mentoring session with key industry insiders in person or via Skype (timing based on each mentor’s production schedule and availability), receive $3,500 and the film will be shown on Playboy’s and Bombay Sapphire’s’ websites.
In addition, the three highest voted submissions will each receive $500 and exclusive Playboy merchandise, the sponsors said.
The submission deadline is Oct. 24 and voting ends Nov. 7. The semi-finalists will be announced on Nov. 15. The winner will be announced on Dec. 7.
