LOS ANGELES — Exotic Dancer (ED) Publications, producers of the ED Club Bulletin magazine, the annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners Expo and the annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show, announced the 2011 ED’s Awards Show winners.
The 14th annual Awards Show & Reception — “A Black & White Bash” — was hosted by popular comedian Nick Di Paolo inside the Grand Ballroom at The Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Aug. 23.
The evening’s biggest awards went to Christina Aguchi, who was crowned ED’s Overall Entertainer of the Year; Delilah’s Gentlemen’s Club in Philadelphia took home the Overall Club of the Year Award; Rick’s Cabaret garnered the prestigious Club Chain of the Year Award; and longtime club executives Randy Beasley and Duke Dearing were inducted into the Exotic Dancer Hall of Fame.
“As the only national awards show for the multi-billion-dollar adult nightclub industry, it is a pleasure for us to continually honor the best adult nightclubs and feature entertainers from across the country,” said ED Publisher Don Waitt. “Our Awards Show guests really embraced our ‘Black & White Bash’ theme, and our host and comedian Nick Di Paolo certainly didn’t disappoint!”
In addition to Di Paolo’s presence, there were also several special guests at the 2011 ED’s Awards Show. National recording artist Jean Morisson joined the show’s house band, The Crashers, as she sang a version of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know,” while Grammy-winning guitarist Vernon Reid of Living Colour joined the band as they tore through the Jimi Hendrix classic, “Foxy Lady.”
“Ronnie the Limo Driver” of Howard Stern Show fame, who has become a regular at the ED’s Awards Show and Annual EXPO, fired the capacity crowd up as an awards show special guest presenter. Other guest presenters included adult stars Nikki Benz, Alexis Texas, Teagan Presley and Devon Lee, along with award-winning feature entertainer Jade Simone St. Clair.
In addition to the awards typically presented each year, for the first time ever, the 2011 ED’s Awards Show celebrated the “small” club with the Small Club of the Year Awards (clubs under 5,000 square feet).
“With so many great, multi-million-dollar clubs in this industry, it becomes harder and harder for the smaller clubs to stand out in the crowd,” Waitt said. “That’s why we felt that it was time we honor those clubs who, despite their smaller size, are no less successful or award-worthy.”
The one new entertainer-related award for 2011 was the Miss ExoticDancer.com Award. Each feature entertainer who has been featured as Miss ExoticDancer.com of the month (which began in October 2010) was eligible to win.
Award nominations were accepted online at TheEDawards.com for a two-week period in June/July. Based primarily on those votes, as well as input from the ED staff, nominees appeared on the Final Awards Ballot. The following is the complete list of winners:
