U.K. Mobile Web Traffic on the Rise, Report Says

MANCHESTER, U.K. - The U.K. has experienced a large spike in mobile web traffic, according to a new report.

The report, conducted by Tecmark, analyzed data on a number of websites in various areas and included "between 1.5 million and 2.3 million web visits."

The researchers broke down traffic by platform and by iOS device and found that Android and iPad traffic grew slowly, BlackBerry was in decline and iPhone traffic saw a deep rise in October 2010.

The firm predicted that mobile traffic will be up 15 percent by next year and noted that iOS devices already account for nearly 10 percent of U.K. web traffic, with the iPhone taking a 7.3 percent share.

The researchers conducted the same kind of analysis in 2009 and found only .02 percent of U.K. traffic was from mobile devices. As of July 2011, mobile traffic accounted for 12.6 percent.
