ICM Registry Says Founders Program Netted $4M in Sales

PALM BEACH, Fla. — ICM Registry reported Monday that 35 companies were accepted into its just-concluded Founders program, claiming about 1,500 .XXX domain names.

ICM said that the companies were "from the adult industry from around the world" and that it booked $4 million in sales from the first stage of the .XXX launch.

"Some domain names were issued for the basic registration fee and several others sold for well into six figures, immediately demonstrating the high value of .XXX domain names," ICM Registry said in a statement.

The first .XXX sites to go live after the July 31 close were Casting.xxx and Orgasms.xxx.

ICM Registry also noted that adult distributor Beate-Uhse AG secured a portfolio of domain names including Kostenlos.xxx, which is the translation of “free” in German.

Other founders include the company behind DirtyDiablos, which took Inked.xxx and Diablos.xxx, and Frank Schilling, owner of a large portfolio of domain names, who took Live.xxx, Hot.xxx and Free.xxx in a deal that was worth more than $1 million.
