AskJolene.com Lets Users Bid for Top Search Ranking

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands — Adult search engine AskJolene.com debuted a new service this week called “Topspots,” an auction system that lets advertisers compete for top position search results.

Toine Verheul, CEO of AskJolene.com, said the service was designed to keep advertising rates in check with market demand.

“We feel that you should never have to pay more for something than what it is worth,” Verheul said. “Since the market is best at deciding what something is worth, we built a marketplace for search results.”

How it works is fairly simple: Topspots ranks a site’s galleries. Webmasters place a bid for each ranking, including a maximum amount they are willing to pay for a query. The service then automatically ranks content according to the maximum bid.

“When you increase your maximum bid, you get a better position but you only pay $0.01 more than the next-highest bidder,” Verheul said. “So you pay the minimum price needed to secure your position.”

Bidding starts at $0.60 per thousand clicks.

The site lets users query specific terms prior to bidding so they can see which keywords they want to target. Keying in “Asian” in the query box, for example, shows there were 702,108 monthly queries for that term on AskJolene.com, with the top bid at press time $1.55 per thousand clicks.

“There are not many sites that can handle all our 40,000-plus galleries like AskJolene does,” Gamma Entertainment account manager Joel Drapeau, whose company runs affiliate PornAccess.com, said. “All the traffic we buy is keyword optimized, so it is 100 percent relevant.”

Verheul said the service also includes access to continually updated usage statistics and several personalized advertising trackers.

“This amount of control is unrivaled,” he said. “Topspots really is the next step in adult advertising.”

AskJolene.com is partially owned by Dreamclub, owner of top TGPs Worldsex.com and Al4A.com, which purchased a 45 percent stake in the search engine late last year.
