The yearlong title as NakeSwordsman entails having Hawk represent the company at various adult industry events as well as becoming a more aggressively promoted star on the NakedSword website, Michael Stabile, senior media manager, told XBiz.
“Not only has Owen appeared in many films, he also has really exceptional backing in the industry from big names like Chi Chi LaRue to Raging Stallion,” Stabile said. “We have heard so many wonderful things about his performances and what he brings to the set.”
Stabile also praised Hawk’s work through Dark Alley Media, calling some of his production work “exceptional.”
Hawk launched Dark Alley in 2005 with partner Matthias Von Fistenburg. The company’s first two films included “Mutiny” and “Owen Hawk: Unleashed,” which went on to garner five GayVN nominations. Hawk also was named Performer of the Year at the Grabby Awards in 2005.
“Any time you are recognized by your peers for excellence, it is extremely gratifying,” Hawk said. “2006 is already off to an equally promising start, and I hope only that I am able to continue developing as a performer and now also as a producer. NakedSword is an amazing operation that I am indebted to for this recognition and for its continued support of Dark Alley Media."
Stabile said that the idea behind the NakedSwordsman title began in 2003 so that site members could get to know the stars more in-depth. Each month, a star is highlighted as part of the NakedSword “Dream Team,” and by the end of the year, the NakedSword staff reviews all twelve candidates for the NakeSwordsman title. Determining factors are based on what the candidates contribute to the industry, how they are exceptional, and why they merit extra notice from the gay adult community.
Previous NakedSwordmen have included Ben Jakks (2005) and Marcus Iron (2004).
