Flynt's Hustler Club Removes New Jersey Billboard

NEW YORK – Paving the way for more peaceful relations with city officials regarding the operation of the new and expanded Larry Flynt Hustler Club, the company extended the olive branch this week to the City of New York by removing and relocating one of its billboards.

After learning that one of the Flynt billboards on Interstate-495 in New Jersey could be viewed by children attending a nearby school, the company removed it and is currently in talks to find a new, more appropriate spot.

According to a statement from LFP, the original location of the billboard was selected by an outdoor advertising company based on the high vehicle traffic of professionals entering the city via the Lincoln Tunnel.

Steve Karel, director of marketing for Larry Flynt Hustler Clubs, told XBiz that relocating the billboard will take some significant discussions and that the company that originally placed the billboard had no idea it would be visible to children.

“We were very proactive about removing it," Karel said. “We certainly didn’t place it there because of the school, which is not Larry Flynt’s style, not at all.”

The New York location, considered the flagship of the LFP supper club dynasty, purchases outdoor advertising in bulk from agencies it trusts to make judgments as to appropriate places to advertise the club.

“The billboard has not yet been replaced,” Karel said. “Billboards are really premium real estate and this one is very expensive and will take a bit of negotiating.”

The Larry Flynt Hustler Club in New York has been in operation for two years on W. 51st street, and according to Karel, with its grand opening, the club will encompass the entire city block, which LFP leases.

The newly refurbished club will feature skyboxes, a heated roof deck, private lap dance rooms, VIP suites and an area for TV shoots.

The tentative grand opening date is set for the week of March 13 and also will mark the club’s two-year anniversary.
