CZECH REPUBLIC — Hornet Pictures, a new script-driven gay studio has debuted with its first feature title “The Secret Life of Students.”
Parent company, U.K.-based STG Pictures said that after 18 years of making fetish films with Sting Pictures it has decided to venture into another area.
The film is set in the 60’s and follows the sexual adventures of 15 students and staff at a “highly” liberal college.
According to the studio, producer Michael Steele has worked on creating a new sense of realism to the stories with careful planning in regard to both cast, costumes and location.
The film’s director Richard O’Shea noted that after reviewing many of the current gay adult titles “everything seemed to be the same. It was becoming harder to differentiate one European studio from another.”
As a mainstream drama film director O’Shea said he wanted to bring out and elevate a better sense of characterization so viewers could “get to know the boys more, really want to know the boys more and then see them in some hot action sequences.”
The studio maintained that it also used realistic sets and detailed costumes on its first film and “not just another back street lounge sofa as the main prop.”
O’Shea also noted that he can’t see why porn films shouldn’t adopt some of the storytelling abilities of their mainstream cinema counterparts. “Although budgets are always tight it must be possible to give adult films a more appealing and cinematic feel even before the cast begin to bang the hell out of each other,” he said.
According to the company, the film’s executive producer Rob Leahman "stretched the finances to produce that desired cinematic effect.”
The cast includes Nick Carter, Alex Granger, Rowan Hunter, Sebastian, Joey king, Richie Sachs, Justin Kingsley, Ryan Philips, Clay Osbourne, Martin Corvin, Andy Black, Brandon Junior, Matt Steel and Jose Manuel.
The new studio has signed for exclusive North American distribution with Los Angeles-based Alpha Omega Distributors (soon to be San Diego-based).
Alpha Omega's Sam Manning said, "I have been working closely with Hornet Pictures to bring this amazing feature to the North American market. We are very excited to be working with a studio that takes time to produce high quality films with top-notch performers. We look forward to a long relationship with Hornet and Sting Pictures. There is no doubt that their films are going to sell like crazy."
