Nominees for the awards were announced in November.
AEBN said it has calculated the most popular films and the stars of the year based on viewing habits of the millions who visit the company’s network of VOD theaters.
Nominations were based on minute sales in the theaters in one calendar year, decided upon with an in-house accounting system.
Commenting on its Best Overall Movie win, Smash owner Dan Quinn and company vice president Stuart Wall said, “We would like to thank our fans for their support of this film.”
The executives added, “From bringing in a full-size bus to capture the right feel to compiling an all-star cast, we didn’t take any short cuts with this production. The great girls and guys in the cast coupled with the great directing talents by Jim Powers was a winning formula for us.”
AEBN vice president of sales and marketing Jerry Anders said, “The only vote cast in these awards is our customers’ choices over the year. With every minute they’ve watched over 2010, fans have made their voices heard.”
He added, “We’ve seen them become increasingly choosy through the last few years, so these winners have definitely captured the loyalty of many of our visitors.”
