New Hustler Hollywood Store Approved

CINCINNATI — Larry Flynt’s new downtown Hustler Hollywood store has been given the green light by Cincinnati's planning and buildings department.

The company provided documents to the city listing all the products it plans to sell at the store including lingerie, swimwear, accessories, glassware and novelties.

The city requested the list to make sure the store doesn’t violate city municipal code rules regarding sexually oriented businesses.

The proposed location for the new store is 1618 E. 7th St., a few blocks away from the Hustler store on Elm street run by Jimmy Flynt.

The brothers have been involved in legal battles over rights to the Hustler name. Jimmy Flynt said his brother is trying to undermine him by opening a competing store.

“He’s trying to open a store in Cincinnati, trying to put me out of business and squeeze me out,” Jimmy Flynt said.

"My brother," Jimmy Flynt said, "He falls sickness to his demons from time to time and right now he's going through a troubled time I guess and just trying to squeeze me out of the company, he and his lawyers, who are also my lawyers."

But Larry Flynt said opening another store makes good business sense because he believes there’s enough demand to support another Cincinnati store, adding that the Hustler Hollywood store in Monroe is his most successful retail outlet in the country.

Meanwhile, in related Flynt news, a federal judge has decided to add the partnership standoff between the brothers to a pending trademark infringement suit.

The case will now be heard in Cincinnati instead of California, which is what Jimmy Flynt’s attorney Robert Hojnoski wanted.

In October, a judge had ruled that the court battle for control of the Hustler business should take place in California, instead of Ohio.

Jimmy Flynt claims that he was, and still is, an equal partner in the Hustler business. But Larry Flynt and his lawyers have repeatedly said Jimmy Flynt was an employee — not a partner — and that he never played a major role in the operation of the company
