The service, which is open to the public, will be held in the Starlight Room at the hotel located at 12825 Ventura Blvd. at the corner of Coldwater Canyon Ave.
Directors Jules Jordan, Joey Silvera and Kevin Moore are organizing the gathering along with Leslie's wife Kathleen. Jordan said that Leslie had a history with the Sportsmen's Lodge.
"John really liked staying there. He would stay there most of the time when he would come to LA," Jordan said Wednesday.
The group is putting together a collection of photos and video clips from Leslie's illustrious career that spanned three-and-a-half decades as both an accomplished actor and producer/director. There will also be an open microphone at the memorial for those wishing to share their memories of Leslie.
"Hopefully, we'll be able to show a side of John that some people didn't see," Jordan said. "That he was a painter, a musician and just an all-around artist. It will be a tribute to his life."
Leslie died on Dec. 5 at his home in Mill Valley, Calif., at the age of 65.
