Playboy Club Macao Opens on Saturday

CHICAGO — Playboy Enterprises announced today that it will open its doors to the Playboy Club Macao on Saturday.

The 12,000-square-foot club will open on the top floor of the Sands Macao Hotel and offers city skyline view. It joins Playboy Club Las Vegas at The Palms Casino Resort and Playboy Club Cancun, as well as future properties in development in Miami and London.

The Playboy Club opening marks the return of the Playboy Bunny to Asia, an iconic mainstay of the Playboy brand. Hong Kong fashion designer Pacino Wan was tapped to add his style to the iconic Playboy Bunny costume, which was originally created in 1960 by Hugh Hefner. Wan has added an Asian flare to the costume.

"Seeing the Bunnies in a global market as important as Macao shows that the Playboy Clubs are once again revolutionizing nightlife," said Hugh Hefner, Playboy's founder and chief creative officer.

Macao, along with Hong Kong, is one of two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China, bordering the Guangdong province and facing the South China Sea.

The Macao club, Hefner said, will be reminiscent of the 1960s Playboy Clubs. Guests will be able to enjoy media rooms, live entertainment and private gaming at the six-year-old Sands, the first Las-Vegas-style casino in Macao.

Originally opened to the public 50 years ago in Chicago, the Playboy Club has sold about 2.5 million membership keys and has employed over 25,000 Playboy Bunnies.
