Fleshlight Drops CalExotics From Trademark Infringement Suit

AUSTIN — Sex toy manufacturer Interactive Life Forms, the maker of Fleshlight, today announced the settlement of all legal issues involving California Exotic Novelties.

About two months ago, the company filed patent infringement complaints against 25 companies, including CalExotics, to stop sales of sex toys in the U.S. that allegedly use its technology.

California Exotic Novelties’ products in question, the JackMaster and Travel JackMaster line, are now protected by a worldwide license, according to ILF.

“While the suit continues with other defendants, California Exotic Novelties has been released from all litigation, and our two companies are now on excellent terms with each other,” ILF President Steve Shubin said. “All California Exotic Novelties distributors and retailers are now allowed to carry the JackMaster line."

Interactive Life Forms filed the suit with the U.S. International Trade Commission and also filed a civil lawsuit in federal court in Austin where the company is based.

Pipedream Products, Honey’s Place, LFP, PHE and others, also have settled with ILF.

In the suit, Interactive Life Forms claims the companies are selling products that are likely to cause confusion, mistake and deception of the public as to the identity of ILF's goods, causing irreparable harm to ILF. According to the complaint, the companies aren’t licensed to use the elastomeric gel invention and aren’t paying royalties.

Additionally, the suit claims the patents were issued in 1998 on a device shaped as a flashlight or thermos with elastomeric gel inside.

CalExotics was unavailable for comment by post time.
