According to the New York Post, Frey - who’s writing the pilot – actor Mark Wahlberg and producing partner Steve Levinson ("Entourage" and "Boardwalk Empire") are behind the porn project that will use both regular Hollywood actors and adult talent.
In addition to the web competition, the plot includes a girl from the Midwest whose boyfriend convinces her to move to Los Angeles to become a porn star.
Frey told the paper, "We're going to make a sprawling epic about the porn business in L.A. We're going to tell the type of stories no one else has told before and go places no one has gone before."
The new show fits with cable TV’s stance on producing titillating porn-friendly shows like HBO’s "Hung” and Showtime’s “Secret Diary of a Call Girl.”
Frey is best known as the faux memoirist hyped and then chastised by Oprah Winfrey.
