FSC Comments on ICANN Resolution on .XXX Application

CANOGA PARK, Calif. — Internet regulatory organization ICANN passed a resolution on domain registry ICM’s application for a .XXX sTLD.

A report on DomainNameWire.com quoted the ICANN resolution, stating, “Whereas, ICANN’s general counsel has completed the expedited due diligence regarding ICM Registry, as directed by the board, and has concluded that ICM has represented that its application for the .XXX sTLD is still current and that there have been no negative changes in ICM’s qualifications.”

While the resolution allows the ICM application to move forward, ICANN will grant a public comment period for a minimum of 30 days on the actual registry contract.

“FSC has emphasized all along that .XXX is far from being passed and that is still the case," FSC Executive Director Diane Duke said. "We will continue to organize the industry in voicing its opposition to this dangerous and costly TLD through all avenues available to us including, but not limited to, the upcoming ICANN public comment period.”

Duke is currently attending The AVN Show in Hollywood, FLa., where she is scheduled to discuss .XXX at a panel seminar to be held tomorrow. Titled “Dot-XXX: A Broad-based Perspective from Industry Leaders."
