Vibrator Company Lobbies for Green Sex Toys

OTTAWA — Canadian vibrator manufacturer We-Vibe is encouraging couples to use eco-friendly sex toys in the bedroom as a way of celebrating Earth Day.

“Making eco-decisions in our production has been a priority since day one,” said Bruce Murison, We-Vibe CEO and founder. “As we continue to evolve and grow as a company, these kinds of choices continue to be a pillar of our mission. We comply with the strictest consumer safety and environmental standards and take pride in calling ourselves a carbon neutral manufacturer.”

The company says eco-sex activists have been lobbying governments to ban toxins in these kinds of products, but legislations has yet to be passed.

In the meantime, Murison offers these tips for buying the greenest toys.

Buy sex toys made of 100 percent medical grade silicone

Look for sex toys that are lead-free, phthalate-free

Choose a manufacturer that is carbon-neutral (any product’s website should have its environmental specifications outlined)

Look for products that are powered with rechargeable batteries and high efficiency chargers

Look for eco-friendly packaging that uses recyclable materials and water-based inks

Murison says We-Vibe is compliant with all of these regulations and adds, “Please think green and have fun doing it.”
