Prior to joining The Stockroom, Shiroma was a product manager at MySpace, where she directed translating business objectives and vision into the conception and execution of new products.
Among her initiatives at MySpace were the development of a content management platform focused on restaurants and app games; refining and extending user account settings features; and the launch of more than 30 international versions of the MySpace site. She was also the liaison for the company in a joint venture with Japanese telecommunications company Softbank to launch MySpace products in Japan.
"Yuko brings us in-depth experience in the art of bringing product ideas to life," The Stockroom President Mike Herman said. "We are fortunate to have a storehouse of concepts for new products and services already at our disposal. Yuko will take ownership of these initiatives, beginning with The Stockroom itself, and then branching out into other projects we have in development."
Shiroma's background also includes working in the digital coloring and design of such top comic book properties as Spiderman, Ghostbusters and GI Joe, among others. Currently she has an apprenticeship with comic artist Dave Johnson and is also working on the art and storyline of her own adult comic, slated for release in 2011.
Inspired by the serial story-telling format of The Arabian Nights, the comic is, as described by Shiroma, "a pornographic globe-trotting chase story about self-discovery." Shiroma is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she majored in sociology, and she is bilingual in Japanese and English.
