ASACP Encourages RTA Label Use on Safer Internet Day

LOS ANGELES — The ASACP is reminding websites to use the Restricted To Adults, or RTA, label this Tuesday, the Safer Internet Day.

Safer Internet Day is an annual international event which aims to raise awareness about safe and responsible use of new technologies, especially among children and young people.

RTA is the adult industry’s initiative to help protect children from viewing content that is age-inappropriate.

It was developed by ASACP out of a need for an easy to use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only.

“The Internet is truly international and knows no borders, and so is RTA,” ASACP CEO Joan Irvine said. “As ASACP moves forward with its international expansion we would like to encourage all adult sites, especially international companies, which have not yet adopted the Restricted To Adults website label to do so.”

The RTA label is a unique string of “meta data” which can easily be inserted into the computer code of any page, website or server.

Parental filtering software and operating systems recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing adult content.

The RTA label is free and universally available.
