MiKandi Brings Mobile Tech to XBIZ LA

HOLLYWOOD — Boasting the world's first adult mobile app store, MiKandi is set to showcase its advanced technology and solutions at the upcoming XBIZ LA conference.

MiKandi offers a developer's portal for free and paid-for apps, which while initially targeting Android-based phones, is expanding to BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices as well as Java-compatible mobile phones.

According to MiKandi cofounder Jesse Adams, the company is excited to host a session that will enable the adult industry to propel itself into a new and exciting medium of discovery and entertainment for its content. Adams cites a Reuters report that the mobile app business is estimated to be worth $9B in the U.S. by 2011; while the Android OS system is estimated to hit 68 million devices by 2013 — all pointing the way to future opportunities.

The session, entitled "How to Take Advantage of the Emerging Multi-Billion Dollar Mobile App Industry," will focus on leveraging new technology advancements in mobile devices and share with the industry ways to generate new sources of revenue through the MiKandi Application Storefront.

"New features are now available [allowing] adult digital content developers to share new experiences with their customers on mobile devices," Adams added. "The MiKandi team will provide some real world examples of how to best utilize the latest technology of today's smartphones."

Attendees will also gain a better understanding of the current mobile app market and future trends, along with strategies for increasing revenue through apps including virtual currencies and in-app advertising.

"Out of the three screens (TV, laptop, and mobile), mobile is the most convenient, accessible, and immediate," MiKandi cofounder Jennifer McEwen told XBIZ. "Analysts predict that the emerging global app market will experience exponential growth with revenues exceeding $25B by 2014. Whether you do it now or later, it's clear that companies must create a mobile presence to keep up with demands."

"MiKandi will show you how to take advantage of this new distribution channel," McEwen added. "By harnessing the unique features of today's mobile devices, you can create a richer user experience while staying true to the spirit your brand: No 'walled gardens,' no restrictions, no censorship."

The MiKandi demo is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9, at 10:00 a.m.
