The Screaming O Launches FSC Awareness Campaign

LOS ANGELES — The Screaming O, the recent winner of the 2009 Free Speech Coalition Novelty Company Of the Year Award, has launched an awareness campaign to benefit the organization.

The campaign makes it possible for retailers across the country to support the FSC’s cause while at the same time as update their merchandising techniques.

After purchasing one of The Screaming O’s new display units, retailers will receive a FSC donation card included in the shipment. By signing and sending it to the designated contact, The Screaming O will donate a sum to the FSC in the business' name.

“The idea is to raise awareness,” The Screaming O partner Keith Caggiano said. “Just write your name on the card and fax. The Screaming O writes the check.”

The company took home the FSC Novelty Company of the Year Award at the 2009 FSC Awards, announced in September. The Screaming O's Justin Ross accepted the award, thankful for the support of not only the FSC but also his parents.

“We are grateful to accept this award from an organization that has done so much to protect the industry we work in,” Ross said. “It’s not always easy when you tell your parents that you want to quit your career and sell cockrings with your buddy out of a garage.”

The Screaming O recognizes the work that nonprofit organizations like the FSC put toward making essential business services available to adult companies across the board and fighting for fair treatment and judgment of the adult industry — something easy to take for granted, Caggiano said.

FSC Executive Director Diane Duke said The Screaming O's innovative take on marketing and ethical approach to business has made the company stand out, and she appreciates the company's work.

“The folks at The Screaming O understand how critical it is for the adult entertainment industry to work together toward a common good,” Duke said. “They are exemplary members, a wonderful company and good, good people.”

Duke said The Screaming O caught the FSC's attention this year with its approach to merchandising, attracting new consumer markets and garnering positive mainstream media attention, including its two Women's Health Magazine annual Sex Awards wins.

“The Company of the Year award goes to the companies in their individual categories that have demonstrated constant and unwavering innovation and excellence,” Duke said. “These companies’ successes not only benefit their individual businesses but also the industry as a whole. In addition to their creative innovation, these companies conduct business with high ethical standards and integrity.”
