Digital Playground to Launch North American VOD Channel

VAN NUYS, Calif. — Digital Playground has struck a deal with Avail-TVN to supply cable operators with a channel that broadcasts the company’s movies. The channel is set to launch Jan. 1.

Avail-TVN will supply distribution and asset management services in support of the Digital Playground VOD service.

“With adult VOD buy-rates under pressure, operators are taking a more strategic approach to the adult category, and well-established brands with unique, high quality content are becoming increasingly important,” said Matt Cohen, senior vice president of content services at Avail-TVN. “Digital Playground stands out for its high production values, extremely popular content and contract stars, and its marketing savvy, and we’re please to be able to offer this content to our distribution partners.”

Avail-TVN has output deals with many major studios, TV networks and cable operators throughout Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean and Mexico.

“There has been a huge demand in the cable TV market for high-budget, couples-friendly movies, which is exactly the kind of content Digital Playground produces,” Digital Playground founder Joone said. “Our VOD channel will provide men and women instant access to an assorted library of our award-winning, hit movies direct from their TV.”

Digital Playground’s deal with Avail-TVN will make its content available to millions of viewers.

“It was time for us to become independent and have our own Digital Playground TV channel,” Digital Playground CEO Samantha Lewis said. “We thoroughly expect to create a new level of premium programming and for our brand awareness to increase as a direct result of the multitude of new viewers.”
