Playgirl Offers iPhone Application

NEW YORK — Playgirl has announced a partnership with GrindhouseMobile.com to bring the hottest hunks of Playgirl to the iPhone, with the recent release of the official Playgirl Centerfold iPhone application.

According to the company, the Playgirl Centerfold app for the iPhone features the sexiest men from Playgirl's past and present, news feeds to keep users up-to-date on future celebrity photo shoots, a porn star name generator and the ability to create a personalized Playgirl cover. Other features include push notification, a screen saver option and iPod music library access. The app is also one of the first adult apps to offer an InApp purchase feature to "get more hunks."

"We are very excited to give our fans their Playgirl fix on-the-go and to bring this iconic brand to the mobile arena with the launch of our new iPhone app," Marketing Director for Playgirl.com, Daniel Nardicio, said. "The app is just one component of our mobile strategy. You are going to see a lot of Playgirl mobile content in the future."

Playgirl was first published in 1973 during the height of the feminist movement as a response to erotic men's magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse that featured photos of only women. Playgirl magazine was the first mainstream magazine to focus on men and their bodies and has continued to deliver the sexiest men to consumers for more than 35 years throughout distribution channels including Playgirl.com and Playgirl on Demand cable channels. The Playgirl print publication will be resurrected with the "50 Sexiest Student Bodies of All Time" issue due on the newsstands December 15, 2009.

The premium version of the app is available through the iTunes App store and sells for $.99.
