The toy drive is a nonprofit joint venture created by SexEntertain co-founder Mike M., JMK of Full On Video and Patrick of Mark’s Book-Mark.
Webmaster Toy Run was started in 2004 to provide hospitalized, poverty stricken and orphaned children in the Los Angeles area with “something as simple as a toy,” Mike M. said.
The site’s three creators collected toys from various webmaster friends, garnering more than $5,000 in donations during the first week and personally bringing the donations to several state and privately run organizations.
“We wanted to find a way to connect directly with abandoned, abused or terminally ill children and make their holiday a little less difficult,” Mike M. said. “It was one of the most rewarding experiences being able to bring a smile to a child that has been needlessly suffering.”
Webmaster Toy Run currently donates toys and gifts various Los Angeles charities, including Para Los Ninos, Los Angeles County Toy Loan Program, Los Angeles Mission, San Gabriel’s Children’s Center, Harbor UCLA Medical Center — Children’s Ward, USC Children’s Hospital and Hollygrove Children and Family Services.
This year, anyone worldwide can make a donation via the website, allowing the program to expand globally.
“This year we figured we would step up the process and see if we can build on that webmaster generosity,” JMK said.
The site’s creators said they will continue to personally deliver any donations made to charities in the Los Angeles area, as well as arrange for any donations made to out-of-state charities to be shipped to those locations.
Additionally, the site’s creators have created a “Wall of Fame” on the website displaying the names of contributors as their gesture of thanks for donations made.
Anyone can visit the website for details on how to donate.
