Hustler Brings ‘Beaver Hunt’ to DVD

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Hustler Video is taking a page (or several pages, actually) from parent company LFP’s flagship magazine for its latest DVD series. “Hustler’s Amateur Beaver Hunt” makes its debut this month, following the tried-and-true formula that has been a mainstay of the print edition for three decades.

The concept is simple: Unknown amateurs send in Polaroids of themselves naked, and the best are invited to perform in their first-ever hardcore scenes for the gonzo line.

The Beaver Hunt DVD series is being jointly produced by X-Play as part of a deal that has the upstart production company delivering 35 movies per year to LFP.

“Anytime we get to watch something real, it breeds some raw excitement,” producer and X-Play co-onwer Jeff Mullen told XBiz. “It’s the same thing with our new series as we simply hooked up the cutest real girls with total pro studs. The combination is fantastic, and maybe in a future volume we’ll showcase some of the second-string girls. We’ll have all of the angles covered with this series because there will be a new volume just about every month.”

X-Play already is editing the second volume in the line, which will drop the word “amateur” and be called, simply, “Hustler’s Beaver Hunt #2.”

Over the years, several well-known starlets have been discovered through Hustler’s Beaver Hunt. Vicki Vette got her start after she submitted her photo as part of the annual contest and won first place, leading to a contract with Direct Models.

“I love this debut because it is packed with hot new girls that didn’t know a damn thing about having sex on camera,” LFP Creative Director Drew Rosenfeld said.

“You have to remember that most of these girls have only been banging in their boyfriend’s car or at a friend’s house, so getting them to open up to the camera is a bit of an interesting challenge,” added Mullen.

While some of the women chosen to star in Volume 1 of “Hustler’s Amateur Beaver Hunt” simply wanted to become porn starlets for a day, at least two — Michelle Maylene and Dakota — appear to be in the business for the long haul. Ryder reports that both have signed with Direct Models and have been working steadily since her Beaver Hunt shoot.

This is not the first time Hustler has explored bringing the Beaver Hunt concept to video. In 1999, the company worked with Vivid Video on a similarly themed but long-forgotten series.
