Since the release of Snoop Dogg’s 2001 adult video “Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle” (Hustler Video), the worlds of adult video and hip hop music have continued to merge and define a new type of “gangsta” lifestyle.
Now, rapper 50 Cent has taken that concept one step further, stating he wants to become involved with the sex industry.
In 2004, 50 Cent and his G-Unit crew, along with Lloyd Banks, completed an award-winning interactive porn DVD titled "Groupie Love" for Digital Sin.
Now, the rap mogul who is already involved with computer games, films, energy drinks and fashion, said he plans to release his own line of condoms and sex toys, including a vibrator that looks like him, in an interview with America’s GQ.
“A motorized version of me will definitely have to be waterproof, so you could utilize it in the tub. A lot of them vibrators aren’t waterproof,” he told GQ.
50 Cent also said the vibrator will most likely be blue, though he’s unsure of how large he would like the toy to be.
“I don’t know if big is better because I’m not sure a man wants his woman playing with a really big dildo,” he said. “But I want to do something like that, to create something that’s popular and exciting sexually for women.”
The new trend that is growing among hip hop and rap artists, including Lil John and Outkast, who have involved themselves with adult videos, further merges adult and hip hop entertainment. Economically, these ventures are often lucrative because videos can be completed on budgets as a low as $50,000. Additionally, the artist is paid twice if he/she participates as a financial partner and talent, doubling their initial potential profit.
