The agreement is a notable one because Numericable reaches nearly all of the French cable TV market, totaling about 3.5 million French households, or 30 percent of the cable market.
Private was chosen as one of two adult content suppliers for Video Club Privé, the premium adult category on Numericable’s VOD service.
Private said that VOD sales in France are skyrocketing in the country, rising 129 percent in 2008. And, according to research group Centre National de la Cinématographie, the adult share of total VOD sales in France grew from 30 percent to 37 percent for 2008.
“The explosive growth in VOD, especially in the adult category, offers a significant opportunity for Private and platform operators alike,”said Tim Clausen, Private’s vice president of sales and marketing.“With extensive exposure and premium positioning, tied to marketing support, we expect to see further substantial revenue increments and impact on net income from this rapidly growing audience.”
