Helmer Tony Dimarco shared the 2009 XBIZ Award as GLBT Director of the Year for "To the Last Man." The two-part cowboy epic also picked up an XBIZ Award as GLBT Film of the Year.
"We are very pleased with initial sales figures for 'The Visitor.' These numbers make me wonder if the recession is really coming to an end," RSS CEO Chris Ward said.
A dearth of high profile, all-male blue movies may have contributed to the sales bump. "There is not that much new product out on the market," he said. "So a new top-end film is going to get a large share of attention."
Ward also cited the popularity of the film's leading man. "Logan is a huge draw. He is the top porn star in the industry today."
Dimarco praised McCree's professionalism and performance skills. "I've worked with Logan for over a year now and we have a great creative relationship, which started with 'The Drifter.' I think we have very similar tastes and are passionate about what we are trying to achieve in the films we make," he said.
"We've had many conversations about the kinds of films we like, musical tastes, views on life. 'The Visitor' developed out of those discussions.”
Ward notes the film is "very ambitious" with its blend of sex and special effects.
"I am very happy with the way it turned out and it will be interesting to see how it is received," Dimarco said. "It's a high-concept film with little dialogue. Which is very different from the big films I've made in the past. It's a film that relies heavily on the visual. I like to think of myself as a visual director and Logan, I think, is a very visual performer. So I think it was a perfect combination."
Featured players include Bruno Bond, Lucky Daniels, Angelo Marconi, Dominic Pacifico, Damian Rios, Junior Stellano, Cole Streets, David Taylor and Austin Wilde.
The two-disc set includes BTS featurettes, an interview with McCree, solo J.O. vignettes starring Pacifico and Stellano, and other bonus footage.
