Braun, a director since 1996, the son of pioneering pornographer Lasse Braun, kicks off his new deal with four movies that are parodies of popular classic television shows.
"I can't imagine a better company for me to partner with in a distribution deal,” Braun said. “I have so much respect for Steven Hirsch and what he has accomplished at Vivid, and I'm absolutely thrilled about this deal.”
The recent success of the Braun-helmed “This Ain’t Happy Days XXX” and “This Ain’t Star Trek XXX” for Hustler Video has inspired him to create “Batman XXX: a Porn Parody" to be followed by "The Addams Family XXX: a Porn Parody," "Zorro XXX: a Porn Parody," and "The Green Hornet XXX: a Porn Parody."
"We're already in pre-production for all four movies and I'm storyboarding them entirely,” Braun said. “It's very important for me to visualize every shot in advance, this way I can give them the same look and feel of the originals. Plus, since this marks the debut of my venture with Vivid, I definitely want them to be my best work ever.”
Braun has a long and colorful history in adult entertainment and this latest venture represents the first time he’s hung up his own shingle.
After directing his first movie in his native Italy in 1996, “The Adventures of the G-Man,” Braun came stateside the following year. In the ensuing years he directed VCA’s “Uncontrollable Lust” and “Sexcape” among many other foreign releases. In 2002, Braun was signed to an exclusive directing contract with Elegant Angel; the following year he became the company’s general manager.
During his tenure at Elegant Angel, Braun created and directed “Gigolo: A Love Story,” “Delusion,” “Compulsion” and the first three volumes of “The Squirting Adventures of Dr. G.” In fact, his abilities to make girls squirt, prompts Braun to insure his hands with Lloyds of London for $2 million each.
Following his stint at Elegant, Braun briefly hooked up with Private Media Group and then went on to prolific streak with New Sensations/Digital Sin.
"Axel has had friendships with several members of the Vivid family over the years and we are delighted that this has led to a business relationship," Vivid co-chairman Hirsch said. "We all admire his creativity, unique cultural perspective and drive."
Braun is excited to bring his childhood heroes to the blue screen.
"As a child I was a huge comics fan, so obviously Batman has a special place in my heart," Axel said. "I grew up in Italy and I clearly remember the excitement I felt the day the 3D View-Master disc came out, several years before Italian TV started airing the show. To see my favorite comic book character literally come to life was an extraordinary experience, and putting together my own XXX version is a dream come true."
