A Marine who served four years in Vietnam, Verrett met Elegant Angel owner Patrick Collins in Las Vegas in 1978.
"He was either going to go to Las Vegas or Alaska," Collins told XBIZ. "He flipped a coin, and it was Las Vegas."
Collins brought Verrett into the adult business, working with him at Evil Angel. When Collins spun off Elegant Angel into a separate company, Verrett stayed with Evil Angel, but joined Collins in 2000 before going off on his own, doing distribution and operating websites.
After losing touch with Verrett for several years, Collins tracked him down in Las Vegas and stayed in contact with him the rest of his life.
Verrett was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma stage IV in February of 2008.
"He went through hell with chemo for eight months," Collins said. "In January they told him he was clean, he didn't have anything, but he still didn't feel right. Five weeks ago, he went to the doctor. The doctor put him in the hospital, and he never came out.
""He was a great guy. He was my best friend," Collins said. "He was larger than life, that's for sure. His physical presence, his voice — and his laugh. He'll be missed."
Collins told XBIZ that Verrett is survived by his wife, six children, three grandchildren, "and a lot of friends."
Verrett will be interred at Boulder City Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.
