"Antichrist" is a horror film and reportedly has explicit sexual content. The film stars Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg as a grieving couple who retreat to their cabin in the woods, hoping a return to Eden will repair their troubled marriage.
Dafoe has appeared in mainstream U.S. films including “Platoon,” “The Last Temptation of Christ” and “Spider-Man.” Gainsbourg starred in Franco Zeffirelli's 1996 film of "Jane Eyre" and was also seen in the 2007 biography of Bob Dylan, "I'm Not There." She is the daughter of French actor and singer Serge Gainsbourg and English actress and singer Jane Birkin, who together recorded the scandalous 1969 song "Je t'aime... moi non plus."
This is the 10th invitation to Cannes for the von Trier, who has won awards at Cannes for his “Europa” (1991), “Breaking the Waves” (1996) and “Dancer in the Dark” (2000).
Zentropa Productions and Innocent Pictures coproduced “All About Anna,” a romantic comedy with explicit erotic scenes, starring Gry Bay, Mark Stevens and Eileen Daly and directed by Jessica Nilsson. The plot-driven production has been presented internationally in theaters and at film festivals, and was released on DVD in the U.S. by Wicked Pictures last year.
