Detailed line drawings of all of CalExotics' different vibrators and stimulators, including the starting and stopping points used for measurements, will be included in the hard copy and online catalogs.
“One of the questions we are always asked is 'How do you measure the size of a toy?'” said Al Bloom, director of marketing for California Exotic Novelties. “Consumers want to know the “usable” areas of a toy, and this guide will certainly help standardize that information."
Compilers tried to answer every imaginable question about a product, including exact size, weight, materials used, battery type and quantity, as well as attributes that make a particular product appealing to consumers and the retailers who stock the product.
“This effort is an extension of our education initiative started by CalExotics over two years ago,” said Susan Colvin, founder and president of California Exotic Novelties. “Some of our products were created more than 15 years ago when we started the company, and researching the complete information on some of these has been difficult."
Details and clarifications extend to the materials making up the products as well.
"A perfect example is the newer phthalate-free materials thermo plastic rubber, and thermo plastic elastomer," Bloom said. "While these man-made compounds share similar properties to silicone — phthalate-free, non-porous, fragrance-free, durable, soft, pliable — they are not identical. Our goal is to have this up to date information on our website and listed in our new 2009 catalog. Soon there will be real-time information available on all of our products.”
The 2009 catalog will be available at the ANME Founders Show on July 10-12 at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills, Calif.
