CFS.com, which runs free gay site CruisingForSex.com, was no exception.
“We lost one set of servers at 4 a.m. the morning [the storm hit], and additional servers at 10 a.m,” said CFS.com founder Keith Griffith. “One server remained online another 48 hours before going offline.”
Today, however, Griffith announced his site was successfully back in place on New Orleans servers, a move he said was vital to reinstating a sense of normalcy for everyone at the company.
“We love New Orleans and are determined to be a part of the recovery of a very special region,” Griffith said. “Because of the nature of our business — being online rather than brick and mortar — we have been in the unique position to continue earning money and paying staff and consultants.”
Griffith said two people on his staff had family members who lost everything in the hurricane.
CruisingForSex.com was reportedly saved by Long Island-based Adult Hosting, which temporarily hosted the CFS.com family of websites on their servers quick enough for the company to continue running.
“No one from our operations had ever met anyone from Adult Hosting, and yet they instantly said yes [to helping us],” Griffith said. “Never once, not even now, have they asked us for any financial compensation.”
CruisingForSex.com is currently celebrating its tenth anniversary.
