Being held on March 28 at The Castro Theatre, the show will feature ASACP receiving a certificate of recognition from the City of San Francisco — honoring the association's efforts to protect children online. At the event, ASACP will also be showing a new public service announcement (PSA) featuring Chi Chi LaRue.
The new PSA promoting the Restricted To Adults RTA) website label features LaRue encouraging parents to use Internet filtering software in order to protect their children from viewing age-inappropriate content. The PSA may be viewed online at YouTube.com/ASACPRTA.
LaRue, an outspoken advocate of safer sex, is an award winning director who has served more than 20 years in the adult industry; producing in excess of 300 gay, straight and bisexual films.
"I'm honored to have been asked to do this PSA," LaRue stated. "I know we're all in the porn business, and while many say our industry is taboo, I feel that we have a responsibility to our consumers."
LaRue's PSA is the fifth in an ongoing series produced by ASACP featuring different adult entertainment stars. Previous RTA PSAs featured Stormy Daniels, Sunny Leone, Catalina Cruz, Tera Patrick and Evan Seinfeld.
"By making sure that we label our sites properly, we are one step closer to keeping this content restricted to its target audience, and keeping those who oppose us out of our wigs… well I'm the only one with a wig, but you know what I mean," LaRue added.
According to the company, the GAYVN Awards presented by NakedSword.com are dedicated to recognizing outstanding movies and talented individuals who have contributed to the advancement of the gay adult entertainment industry. The event offers an evening of tail gate parties on March 27 and a brunch preceding the gala awards ceremony on the 28th.
ASACP CEO Joan Irvine will be attending the GayVN Awards and will be a guest on the Tim and Roma Show on Saturday afternoon. She will be at the Naked Sword tailgate party to answer questions regarding the RTA labeling initiative and discuss the various ways companies can support the ASACP mission, including the newest initiative to reach out to the consumer: "Protect Your Porn… Protect Children… Donate to ASACP."
"We are incredibly grateful to Naked Sword for involving ASACP in the GayVN Awards," Irvine said. "NakedSword has been an ASACP sponsor since 2003; they always go the extra mile to support our mission."
"We are also thrilled that ChiChi LaRue has generously volunteered to make a new RTA PSA," Irvine added. "We are excited to debut the PSA and to be honored by the City of San Francisco."
According to the association, RTA is the adult entertainment industry's initiative to protect children from viewing content that is age-inappropriate. It was developed by ASACP out of a need for an easy-to-use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. The RTA label is a unique string of "meta data" which can easily be inserted into the computer code of any website allowing parental filtering software to recognize the tag and prevent children from viewing adult content.
ASACP launched the RTA label in November 2006. It is free and universally available; and currently over 6 million sites have labeled with RTA. ASACP is preparing to launch a new RTA Plus and RTA Verified service in April.
Founded in 1996, ASACP is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. For more information, visit www.asacp.org.
