AdultSpace Announces Expansion

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — AdultSpace today announced it has closed a $1.3 million funding round, bringing its total capital to $2.3 million since launching in January 2006. The company will use these funds to expand and develop a series of interactive features and tools for the site.

The company said angel investors granted the funds after seeing AdultSpace’s ambitious expansion plans.

“Adult social networks, dating networks and entertainment services comprise a thriving market sector on the rebound amid the recession,” the company said. “Angels have responded in kind with ample funding for sites with carefully-developed, quick turnaround concepts with immediate avenues to profitability.”

AdultSpace CEO and founder Ruben Kane told XBIZ that he is very excited about the expansion of the site.

“I’m really thrilled about it,” Kane said. “It would have taken a lot longer without the funding. Now we’re able to hire more programmers and begin working on the new features.”

The site allows each member up to 1GB in free photos and videos and features that include cams and chatrooms, live shows showcasing adult stars and an active classifieds section that includes adult job opportunities and personals.

“AdultSpace is the preeminent destination for free adult dating and mingling,” Kane said. “No other site in this space offers members as many free features as we do. We don't limit how much of other members' profiles you can view, and the site only requires registration with an email address for access to all members' areas. Members have no restrictions on content or language, although we always emphasize common courtesy and respect to ensure the best possible experience for everyone.”

Contests, giveaways, user-generated polls and quizzes, and a psychologist-developed member matching service similar to eHarmony.com’s offering, also are available through AdultSpace. Its exclusive dating bot from adult starBrook Banner, LolaBot, offers visitors a free interactive chat application.

While AdultSpace benefits from ad revenue from adult content providers, the funding will support expansion of interactive content and social-networking components.

The funding will be implemented to develop proprietary interactive features, the expansion of meetup and group features, mobile networking and viral marketing campaigns, such as the LolaBot.

“Unlike most faceless social networks, the AdultSpace staff takes extra time and dedicates itself to its members within the Los Angeles area and other major metro areas with real life parties and events exclusively for our users,” Kane said. “We also offer tons of freebies and contests to win. Some of our most dedicated members and fans have submitted ‘I love AdultSpace’ images with writing or insignia on their bodies professing love for the site.”
