“We want to host a comfortable, educational environment for those heavily involved in the BDSM scene, as well as those who are interested in getting their feet wet,” Stockroom.com marketing coordinator Casey O’Connell said. “The wonderful thing is that we have a gorgeous space for Stockroom U to be hosted — in our retail boutique in Silverlake.”
Stockroom University is kicking off with a series of free mini-workshops taught by Stockroom staff. The first to be held Sunday from 6-9 p.m. The workshops that follow are taught by trained and recognized professionals and will cost at the door.
“This one is a general introduction to a wide array of topics such as latex fetish fashion and nipple stimulation,” O’Connell said.
O’Connell also said that Stockroom President Mike Herman felt that the purpose of the workshops was to cover a wide spectrum of themes that can apply to the hardcore BDSM player and act as an on-ramp for couples or individuals looking to try new things.
The workshops also will discuss more advanced topics, including electrostimulation and urethral sounding — the use of probes to increase the stretch the urethra for sexual pleasure.
“Our next workshop will be hosted by Midori, “ O’Connell said. “It’s called the Art of Feminine Dominance and it is going to be amazing.”
Midori, the author of “The Seductive Art of Japanese” and “Wild Side Sex,” will discuss the psychology, politics, practical exercise and techniques of feminine dominance.
Nevertheless, the workshop is not directed at any specific gender. According to the company, the event is for “all who harbor the powerful woman within” and is directed to “everyone from the novice to the experienced player.”
The Art of Feminine Dominance workshop will be held March 29 from 7:30-10:30 p.m. It costs $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Attendees also will receive a 10-20 percent discount off all Stockroom merchandise.
The Stockroom Retail Store is located at 2809½ Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles. Stockroom U workshops also will be held at the San Francisco location at 11858 Howard St.
San Francisco’s Stockroom retail location will host Shock and Awe: Beyond Beginning Electrical on March 19. This workshop will instruct about electrical play, beginning with safety and usage knowledge and moving on to more advanced play. It will be taught by Daddy Darrin, who completed his masters apprenticeship with the House of Das Kreuz Christi in 1989.
