"We feel fortunate to be thriving in this unstable economy," Adam & Eve Director of Public Relations Katy Zvolerin told XBIZ. "Over the past year, we've seen a lot of our competitors face great challenges. We believe our customers recognize and support Adam & Eve as an honest, responsible leader in the adult industry."
The company’s 2008 sales figures were down 3.6 percent from the company's reported record sales in 2007. However, the number of orders was down only 1.3 percent.
"This shows us that customers were still ordering our products, they just weren’t spending as much money per order,” Adam & Eve Marketing Director Chad Davis said. “November and December sales were up over 2007, while many retailers had a dismal holiday.”
Online entertainment sales increased, as did online product sales from the Adam & Eve website and sales of massagers and personal lubricants. Sales through radio and television marketing channels saw a reported double-digit growth in 2008.
Product sales from traditional print sources decreased, as anticipated.
