Specialty Publications Partners with Maleflixxx

LOS ANGELES — Gay magazine publisher Specialty Publications announced an agreement today with Sureflix Digital Distribution to develop gay video-on-demand (VOD) services through Sureflix’s Maleflixxx VOD network. The agreement makes Maleflixxx the official VOD provider for Specialty’s variety of gay content.

Specialty, which publishes several popular gay magazines, including Men, Unzipped and Freshman, already has a sizeable online presence, as well as a successful video production unit, but representatives at the company said the agreement with Maleflixxx was the best way to bring premium gay VOD content to Specialty’s customers.

“[This] will bring tremendous benefits to our subscribers and readers,” said Caryn Goldberg, Specialty Publications president. “We now have the ability to enhance our customer experience by delivering streaming video of the productions and stars our customers are reading about in our magazines.”

Goldberg said the agreement between the two companies will give subscribers and readers access to thousands of exclusive gay hardcore video productions from more than a hundred top-name studios, including Kristen Bjorn, Falcon, Blue Blake, Studio 2000, MSR, Matt Sterling, Hot House, High Octane and Lucas Kazan.

“This as a great combination,” said Eric Johnson, Sureflix president. “Specialty has developed the world’s leading gay magazines and Maleflixxx has developed the world’s leading gay VOD service. Bringing the strengths of our two organizations together in this way is beneficial to both companies.”

As part of the new alliance, the companies will undertake a joint promotional campaign to promote Specialty Publications and the new VOD site when it launches in October of 2005.
