"2009 means a new administration with new opportunities for ASACP to spread the word about the industry's effort to protect children, ASACP and the Restricted to Adults (RTA) label," ASACP CEO Joan Irvine told XBIZ. "ASACP will increase its efforts to educate the industry's customers about how to protect their children."
Part of that increased effort will be the launch of RTAPlus, an enhancement to the adult industry-supported website label.
While other news of major program launches and innovations is scarce, one popular plan is to solidify and entrench operations while expanding revenue options.
"Restructuring and diversifying is the name of my game this year," said Joe Fredricks of Fredricks Media Group.
"In 2009, EuroRevenue will focus on cultivating new, mutually-beneficial partnerships with industry colleagues around the globe," said Todd Glider of adult webmaster affiliate program EuroRevenue — a common sentiment that was also echoed by Margaret Morgan of Platinum Media — who told XBIZ that her New Year's resolution was "to continue to work with my company and have it grow and be recognized as a good company."
"We're very lucky because the consumer has always liked our product," Morgan added, underlining the goal of many companies in the coming year: getting the customer to like their product enough to pay for it, rather than pirate it.
Other operators are taking a more holistic approach, trying to balance work with play and fitness, in an effort to be healthier — and more competitive.
"On a personal note, the girlfriend and I are joining a gym to get in shape for our old age," Brett Gilliat of Playboy Webmasters said. "On the business side, I'll be focused on expanding the Playboy Webmasters brand and getting into my artistic side by making some sex chairs out of steel."
"My wish for the New Year would be for me, my family, colleagues, friends and clients to stay healthy," Bjorn Skarlen, CommerceGate offered. "This way I can continue to serve the industry with the best possible products in order to give the customer the best experience of the fantasy we sell!"
Skarlen also pointed out another common goal for 2009 for his company and for operators at all levels — "to stay on top of the recession and to make more money."
Free Speech Coalition Executive Director Diane Duke will use 2009 to seek additional opportunities for adult businesses to benefit from being FSC Members.
"FSC will be the voice of reason in government regulation of our industry from 2257 and obscenity to OSHA and taxes targeted at the adult entertainment industry," Duke told XBIZ. "We will do this through intensive lobbying efforts and, as a last resort, litigation."
"FSC will lead and coordinate efforts in copyright protection by bringing the industry together and working with our mainstream entertainment coalition partners," Duke added.
"My New Year's resolution? To get my own personal bailout from the government!" Evil Chris told XBIZ. "But more seriously, I'm going to attempt to roll with the innovations in our changing business, and have a successful and prosperous 2009."
