ePassporte Responds to Spike by Resetting Codes

LOS ANGELES — Electron card PIN codes of many ePassporte account holders around the globe were reset today for safety reasons due to a recent spike in compromised merchants’ accounts and PIN numbers.

“As a preventative measure to protect our account holders,” said ePassporte in an issued statement, “we took immediate action to notify and preempt potential fraudulent transactions on our account holders’ cards. We realized this would cause some inconvenience for our account holders, but felt it was necessary to ensure that our customers’ funds remain safe.”

The Electron card, which is supported by Visa and can be used wherever Visa is accepted electronically and at ATM locations around the world, has been under attack by fraudsters, who, according to ePassporte, “have advanced from phishing attacks to now skimming cards at merchants and ATMs to enable them to duplicate cards.”

In its statement, ePassporte cites the economy as a possible reason for the increase in ATM theft and compromised merchants and urges everyone “to be vigilant with all credit/debit card transactions by checking online statements, changing PINs and checking all ATMs for anything unusual before using them.”
