Trannyfest events are scheduled throughout November in various venues in the city. The Film and Video Festival featuring the “Couch Surfers” screening will take place Nov. 8 at Mama Calizo’s Voice Factory, located at 1519 Mission St. in San Francisco.
“It’s very important that we are able to showcase ‘Couch Surfers’ back in San Francisco and within such a cutting edge arts festival like Trannyfest,” Trannywood’s Ken Rowe said. Founded in March 2006, Trannywood Pictures was conceived as an experimental project in affiliation with San Francisco’s Eros — the Center for Safe Sex. Since then, its films have received film festival exposure. “Couch Surfers has been shown at the Paris Porn Film Festival and the Gay and Lesbian Film Fest of Paris. The movie also will be screened at Pornotopia in Albuquerque (Nov. 16-18) and the Perv Queerotic International Film Fest (Dec. 4-7) in Sydney, Australia.
Besides information on its films, TrannywoodPictures.com is a site for safe-sex advice for female-to-male transsexuals and other community resources.
“Trannywood’s films stand out among trans/gay porn since they include diverse body types, trans and non-trans, interacting and negotiating safe sex,” Trannywood talent coordinator Dex Hardlove said. “There are no [magically] appearing condoms in our films and it’s not unusual for gloves or other latex layers to show up.”
