2 Vegas Strip Clubs Sue Competition

LAS VEGAS — Two Las Vegas strip clubs filed suit against 12 competing clubs and their employees, alleging that the clubs and their employees bribed taxi drivers to take passengers to the 12 clubs instead of the two that filed the suit.

Déjà Vu Showgirls and Little Darlings of Las Vegas filed the suit in Clark County District Court Wednesday, claiming that taxi drivers would disparage Déjà Vu and Little Darlings with comments like "It's a dump" and descriptions of the dancers as "old hogs" and "chicks with bullet wounds," taking passengers to the defendant clubs in exchange for tips and kickbacks from club employees.

The suit names several state and local statutes prohibiting taxi drivers from taking a passenger someplace other than where the passenger asks, and prohibiting liquor licensees or their employees from giving a "fee, tip, gift or gratuity of any kind to any taxicab driver for the delivery of any passenger to the business location of the licensee."

The suit asks for an injunction prohibiting the clubs from compensating taxi drivers — which is currently illegal — and also asks for general damages, punitive damages, and attorneys fees.

Attorney Neil Beller, who filed the suit, told XBIZ that the next step involves going to the taxicab companies and identifying the employees who made the payments.
