Venice is being tried for the rape of a woman at the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority on Sept. 12, 2007.
Venice's real name is Christopher Jack Reid. His defense attorney, Chris Bugbee, has not decided whether Reid will testify today, as reported by The Daily Evergreen, the Washington State University student newspaper.
Should Reid not testify, closing arguments are expected today and the case will go to the jury.
Today's testimony was offered by Kyle Schott, a 24-year-old former Washington State University student, who is currently serving a reduced sentence in exchange for his testimony against Reid.
Reid is currently on trial for events that unfolded on the night of Sept. 12 and early morning hours of Sept. 13, 2007. Both men were seen drinking and in the area of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority house. Reid is said to have entered the sorority house "looking for women," according to Schott's testimony. The alleged rape took place in an upstairs bedroom of the house.
Reid's attorney asserts that evidence does not place Reid in the sorority house at the time of the alleged rape.
If convicted, Reid could face life in prison. Schott is expected to finish cross-examination today. Bugbee will announce whether his client, Reid will testify.
