Then There Were Three
Aiden Ashley and Quinton James have hit a rut in their marriage. The excitement and passion are gone, and all that remains seems to be resentment. But everything changes when James suggests one of his old college students (Jane Wilde) move in with them temporarily after she gets laid off. When Ashley realizes there’s some history between Wilde and James, the tension in their home grows exponentially. With her marriage on the verge of collapse, Allure considers taking some radical advice from a close friend. Will she and James rediscover their love, or will Ashley’s bold endeavor be the final crack in the foundation of their marriage?
I really like Jacky St. James as a writer and director. When she creates full features, they always land on an emotional and physical level — and she’s very good at bringing stories to life. This story will resonate not only with those who like to explore the world of sex, but also, those who have found themselves desperate to save a relationship.
I also love the cast. Ashley is known for intense performances both sexually and as a thespian, and her ability to project a sense of barely contained dissatisfaction is key to the success of this story. James also does a great job as the conflicted husband. He’s clearly unhappy with Ashley, but he doesn’t want to purposely end their union. Still, his introduction of Wilde to their situation is a manifestation of his subconscious desire to disrupt his marriage. Wilde is caught in the middle and nails her role as the fulcrum on which everything hinges. It’s very good work from the main cast.
The flashback scene between James and Wilde is wonderful. Both are hungry for each other, and as they freely admit their relationship is nothing more than a sexual contract, their sex is free and somewhat selfish. They’re both there to get off, they both know it, and they both love it. Wilde gets folded up in multiple positions (the ass-up face-down doggie is fire), and James drops his load all over Wilde’s ample bush like an animal.
James’ colleague London River inadvertently adds fuel to the fire when she tells him how a threesome saved her marriage years ago. The masterful Ryan McLane just about kills River when he’s eating her pussy, and he keeps that same energy when he’s fucking her. You can almost see her begging for mercy, like she can’t believe or handle how good McLane feels inside her. Viewers will look at River in this scene and say, “I’ll have what she’s having.”
Meanwhile, Ashley’s friend Adira Allure piques her curiosity about spontaneity when she tells her about how she finally hooked up with her boss. Ashley is already leaning towards doing something drastic after a chance encounter with Wilde sets her mind spinning, and Allure’s raunchy story helps her along. Allure is dirty and open to everything her boss Jason Moody has in store for her. She tantalizes him by letting him know she’s wanted him to bend her over his desk for a long time, and she keeps her fuck-me eyes glued to him throughout.
As Ashley’s journey of self-discovery culminates, she makes her choice. She is the driving force behind the sexual climax of the film, and the results are explosive. There’s a ton of intimacy between Ashley, Wilde and James here, but there’s also a volcanic release of inhibitions from Ashley that is mesmerizing. The audience literally watches Ashley morph into a new sexual being while Wilde and James nurture her. It’s sexy and powerful and intense. Honestly, this is the best scene I’ve seen this year.
There’s a nice plot twist at the end that is fitting and could easily spawn a sequel. Every time I watch a St. James feature, I’m reminded that she’s one of the best writers and directors working in porn. Features is where she shines brightest, in my opinion, and this movie (like so many others from her) deserves many awards nominations.
Aiden and Quintons marriage has hit a bit of a lull. It lacks spontaneity and excitement. So, when Quinton invites his former student Jane to rent out their room, both Aiden and Quinton find themselves discovering a new level of excitement in their marriage. But when things begin to get more serious with Jane, Aiden begins questioning everything - including her relationship with Quinton.
