The New Behind the Green Door

Once you accept the absurd (some might say ingenious) premise that Marilyn Chambers had a child who grew up to be a Bay Area socialite without knowing who her mother was, there is ample entertainment to be had in this fast-moving tribute to the Mitchell Bros. 1972 porn classic, clips from which festoon the film.

Director Paul Thomas gives it all a mainstream Hollywood vibe, Phil Noir’s dialogue is tart and snappy, San Francisco provides a picturesque backdrop, and Brooklyn Lee dazzles with a tremendous performance as the lost daughter of a porn legend.

Brooklyn and sleazy hubby James Deen are facing financial ruin since they’ve gone through the substantial inheritance left by her unknown mother. They crash a party thrown by super-rich—and super-kinky—Steven St. Croix, who happens to own the notorious Caligula Club. Brooklyn, unlike the girl in the original, is not abducted but finds her way there on her own.

At a mass orgy she is ravished by not one but three Johnny Keyes look-alikes (Nat Turnher, Jon Jon, Prince Yahshua, each in white tights and claw necklace), with aggressive fucking, anal and d.p. action—much more of a workout than Chambers endured. (Keyes makes a charming cameo appearance as himself). Everybody in every scene fucks their brains out. Only at the end of the movie is Brooklyn’s DNA revealed to her.
