The firm's intern tryouts look like a beauty pageant as would-be gofers strut their stuff on a runway before the partners as a list of qualifications is read aloud. The beauty-pageant analogy continues as one is asked to strip, and later, gets a personal one-on-one with partner India Summer.
The plot is set in motion when a doctor's wife comes in to file divorce papers against her straying husband. As part of the service, the firm hooks her up with a companion. A subplot involves predatory lawyer Avy Scott — who makes moves on interns — having domestic-violence problems with girlfriend Louisa Lakewood, which Lakewood confides in stepmom lawyer Janet Mason, who comforts her in a most unmotherly way.
After Scott gives another new intern candidate a horizontal once-over, she tells a colleague that she may want to pursue an adoption annulment — leaving the door wide open for "Lesbian Legal 2."
Sex will please the built-in audience, and the untied loose ends will bring them back.
With an office staff like this, the court competitors don't stand a chance. But the real magic happen when the office closes and they turn their attentions to each other.
