Enter FontViewer 3 — a handy application that allows users to quickly and conveniently preview and manage their font collections.
(Note: to use FontViewer 3, you will first need to download and install Microsoft's .Net Framework 3.0, which is available for free through Microsoft.com.)
The software employs an intuitive user interface that displays all of your installed fonts in a grid with different fonts displayed in individual cells. Each cell has the text "AaBbCc" and the selected font's name, which gives you an instant preview of how capital and lower case letters will appear. Clicking on the font displayed in each cell allows you to edit the text, so you can preview specific words and phrases from the same interface. A "zoom" feature allows you to increase or decrease the font size of the preview.
There are a number of convenient features for users with large numbers of fonts installed, including the ability to create font collections, a filter that allows you to limit the preview to only certain types of fonts and a search function for finding a specific font without having to browse through your full collection.
FontViewer 3 won't change your life — but if you work with fonts, it sure will make it easier.
