Emily Jones on Twerking, Entrepreneurship and Coaching

Growing up, Emily Jones’ family was not well off. She learned the value of hard work early, and became accustomed to making her own money even as far back as age 14. After moving out on her own at age 18, however, she was struggling to make ends meet as a waitress.

One day, a friend mentioned that she had tried something called “webcamming,” after learning about it on the chat site Omegle. Once Jones gave it a whirl, there was no going back for her.

Since then, the fast-rising creator, YouTuber and talent coach has garnered tens of thousands of followers, runs a merch website, offers master classes for industry newcomers and is regularly featured in industry publications. She says she is glad to have made so many friends since joining the adult industry, and finds that her life is more financially secure and filled with greater happiness as well.

With eyes still on the prize, Jones sheds light on her journey so far and her plans for the future, in this exclusive Creator of the Month interview.

XBIZ: Discuss your main sources of revenue and how you stay organized.

Jones: I do camming every week, as well as run free and paid OnlyFans accounts. It’s super hard to stay organized, but I’ve found a great company that helps me! Yum Production is the only management business I’ve seen actually take what I do and automate it. It’s crazy. I have been able to streamline my whole operation with their help. They are gurus at this stuff!

XBIZ: Talk about your visual style when it comes to shooting photos and videos. How has your approach evolved over time?

Jones: It has definitely evolved since I first started! When I was first taking photos, I just took them willy-nilly on my iPhone with no lighting or camera work or anything. It was super amateur. Now, I really think about everything going into my photos. I have themes, colors and backgrounds that all contribute to the photos. Not only that, but I now have a real camera!

I’m always learning, but I’ve taken huge strides in my photography skills. Personally, when I’m photographing myself, I like to do easy poses that are dainty to fit my athletic build. However, when I’m photographing other models, I really enjoy close-ups, either in body parts or on faces. Close-ups can tell a whole story without giving away the whole scene, for a more dramatic reveal.

XBIZ: What kind of content in particular do your fans most enjoy?

Jones: My fans love twerking content! They can’t get enough of it. And honestly, I blame Instagram. Like I said, I have a pretty athletic build, so my butt is Instagram-worthy. And that causes a lot of my fans to want to see it in action.

XBIZ: How do you handle social media marketing, balancing organic engagement with promotional calls to action?

Jones: Social media is a beast. It has been great to gain experience in how it works. I’ve done pretty well at knowing what to post and where — for example, SFW butt pics on Instagram. But it does come down to what you want to learn.

I use Yum Production to help me post and make a strategy for social media. But using an agency isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, even if it really ramps up your production and makes you create way more content. I always go for organic content, more than promotions, but using an agency can help if you have a specific goal in mind for your social media feed.

XBIZ: Talk about your strategy for growing your YouTube audience and the kind of material you focus on for your channel, Emily Jones Chats.

Jones: I actually didn’t have much of a strategy going into YouTube. I just really enjoyed doing livestreaming and thought I’d give it a shot! The idea behind the channel was that when I started as a cam girl, there were not many resources out there on how to do it.

Now, you’ll find tons of content. My channel is a little all over the place; I’m actually talking to my team about how to refine it and help it grow. I usually post interviews with other cam girls, advice on camming, and tech reviews. I really like being informative and helpful. 

XBIZ: Discuss how you design and market your merch, which spans sweaters, beanies, dad hats and more. What items are most popular?

Jones: I designed my merch with my fans in mind. You’ll see almost all of it is men’s clothing or men’s shoes. I designed them based on what I thought men would wear outside in the open and not have too many questions of where they got it from. It’s almost a little token of me that they can bring around places.

I used the #jaybird mascot and wording because my fans on Chaturbate are called jaybirds. The name actually comes from a childhood nickname I had. I thought it would be cute for my fans to have the same nickname I did.

The most popular item is the t-shirt, but I also have found that merch like this doesn’t really resonate with my fans as much. I may soon switch to posters or stickers of myself.

XBIZ: Describe the “Emily Jones” brand and what your overall aesthetic, vibe and personality is like.

Jones: Emily Jones is just… well, me! I’m a somewhat funny tomboy and sporty, cute girl. It’s all about hanging out, having a good time and spending time together.

XBIZ: Any major goals for the rest of 2023 and beyond?

Jones: For 2023, I have such majorly big goals! To start, you’ll be seeing me get super organized in my online presence. Next, those of you on my content pages are going to see it get way better. There will be new locations, new content and more wetness.

Then, you guys will also be seeing me do way more collaborations. I talk to so many cam models through my YouTube that I’m finally starting to build the community that I’ve always dreamed of. Soon, you’ll be watching me hanging out with way more girls.

Lastly, I hope to become an ambassador for Yum Production this year, which means being on their website, their socials and networking at events for them. I think 2023 is going to be so awesome!
