Q&A: Lauren Phillips Directs Her Destiny Like Never Before

Q&A: Lauren Phillips Directs Her Destiny Like Never Before

After nearly a decade in adult entertainment, Lauren Phillips has established herself as one of the most versatile stars in the industry. She is as bankable in studio-shot titles as she is streaming on cam, and can pivot in a heartbeat from silky-soft redheaded allure to whip-cracking dominance, to suit her expanding pro-domme fandom. The latest feather in her cap: a newfound opportunity to expand her production repertoire by directing specialty content for multichannel conglomerate Adult Time.

Rocking more than 1.5 million followers on Instagram and Twitter, not to mention more than 100,000 on Chaturbate, Phillips also runs her own official site at LaurenPhillips.com, has amassed 32,000-plus subscribers on her OnlyFans and even sets the feature dancing circuit afire.

Never be afraid to ask for what you want. You never know what it might bring to the table.

Stepping into the Cam Star of the Month spotlight, Phillips discusses the secrets to her professional longevity and her plans for continued success, in this exclusive interview.

XBIZ: Reflecting on nearly a decade in the adult industry, what career milestones are you most proud of?

PHILLIPS: My contract with Adult Time. They are opening up so many doors, and I love being a part of their team. I think our brands complement each other. And I hope we can build upon that and bring out a more positive aspect of porn. I'm truly honored by this opportunity.

XBIZ: Discuss how studio shoots have influenced your approach to independent content/camming, and vice versa.

PHILLIPS: The big adult studios make me appreciate good lighting and the best angles for my body type. I love pretty porn and creating it! They have made me truly appreciate all my porn skills. I also feel like my kinkiness and my ability to express myself have increased 10 times over. I love it! Every kink/fetish has a special place in my heart.

XBIZ: What is your preferred platform for camming, and why?

PHILLIPS: Chaturbate is my No. 1 because I love their platform and how they keep developing it. I also love their team and working with everyone. They treat their models so well. I feel Chaturbate represents entrepreneurial education and how to be an independent contractor. Being your own boss is very liberating.

XBIZ: Tell us about how you handle time management.

PHILLIPS: This is pretty funny because I'm still trying to figure everything out, but delegating is what helps me a ton. I have trouble trusting people with my business, AKA my baby. But I know I must delegate at some point, so I'm working on finding hardworking people that appreciate my industry. It's so hard!

XBIZ: Which industry colleagues are you closest with? Who has most inspired or shaped you?

PHILLIPS: I'm pretty close to Victoria Voxxx and Gabby from MV. Victoria is a close friend in my personal life, but we also work very well together. She's truly an amazing person. Gabby is a cam model/content creator, and she is so sweet. Veterans like Katie Morgan, Brandi Love and Dani Daniels are my biggest inspiration and have shown me how I want my brand to be.

XBIZ: What is your strategy for social media marketing?

PHILLIPS: The best social media strategy is to be true to who you are and what you want your brand to represent. But I'm still trying to figure things out as well. Social media is constantly changing, and it's hard to keep up with. Just try to balance things out. If you overwork yourself, you'll burn out. You need “you” time!

XBIZ: How has your brand evolved over time?

PHILLIPS: My brand evolved from amateur porn/ content creator and full-time cam model to porn star. Now I'm a content creator known as the “Ultimate Ginger” and the “Extreme MILF.” I'm heading towards producing and directing for mainstream companies. I hope to direct more in the future and get into the femdom niche. As a pro-domme, I can experiment with new kinks and build upon the mental stimulation that comes with it.

XBIZ: Describe your approach to balancing work, health and personal life.

PHILLIPS: The one thing that helps me the most is time management apps. I use timers to help me balance what I'm working on. Scheduling on my calendar helps me keep events, conventions and shoots organized in one place. I also use Todoist to create a to-do list, so I know what needs to be done, and it saves my life! It's also essential to schedule personal time, such as self-care days and vacations.

XBIZ: What are a few of your most significant accomplishments this past year?

PHILLIPS: My contract with Adult Time was something I wanted so badly! Never be afraid to ask for what you want. You never know what it might bring to the table. If you don't ask, you will never know, and you could miss out on something amazing. This contract is what I wanted this year, and I can't wait to see it grow into something awesome.

XBIZ: What are your next major goals?

PHILLIPS: Most likely, to start a podcast about how to get into the adult industry and interview people about their experiences. Dipping into mainstream acting is a big dream of mine. I also want to focus on creating content on YouTube and Twitch to build my fanbase and show them a more personal side of myself. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
